NETRA — iNformation Extraction from Terrestrial Remote sensing and Analytics — is an independent research initiative focused on extracting meaningful information from geospatial data.

The name comes from the Sanskrit नेत्र (netra), meaning eye—a symbol of seeing, observing, and gaining insight.

In the context of Earth observation, it captures the essence of what NETRA does: look at the Earth, and data, differently, extract information from what we observe, and transform observations into understanding.
